A chef and owner at only 23 years of age, Chef Michael’s time at Mezzo Ristorante was instrumental in giving him the experience and the courage to set out on his own concept in 2015.
Michael’s cultural background and years of apprenticeship in the restaurant industry led him to developing a menu that was truly his own – one that constantly evolves and grows. But he is
also open to bringing to life the menus that are presented as part of Windsor’s Appetite tasting program. His interpretation of these menus makes them special and so much more than simple food pairings for beverage alcohol.
The atmosphere that KOMA (Kitchen Of Michael Anthony) provides to these events is one of camaraderie and warmth and we are grateful to Chef Michael for the opportunity to utilize his incredible space and talents for our tastings.

World Whisk(e)y Ambassador to Canada
Matt has been working within the beverage alcohol industry for nearly 20 years as bartender, mixologist, educator and consultant, so it’s no surprise that Matt’s passions also include cocktails, culinary, hospitality, and travel. Known to many as the “Whisk(e)y Chef,” Matt travels coast to coast across Canada preaching the gospel of whisk(e)y and spreading his love of the Beam Suntory family of whiskies, including Bourbon, Canadian, Irish, (2010-2017) and now Scotch and Japanese Whisky (2018- ).
In 2016 Matt was officially highly commended by Whisky Magazine’s Icons of Whisky for World Whisky Ambassador of the Year 2016 and won the Global American Whiskey Ambassador of the Year 2017. Matt was also the first Canadian and bartender to be featured on the cover of Whisky Magazine issue 138, a global publication.

Flor de Cana Brand Ambassador
Originally hailing from the picturesque shores of Scotland, Karen Moodie has, like Flor de Caña, traveled far and wide around the world. Karen brings with her over 15 years of beverage alcohol passion, knowledge and experience. Her career began back in the UK where her passion was sparked for finely crafted beverages as she worked managing sales for AB Inbev’s premium portfolio of brands. Like many great Scottish exports, the call of adventure was too hard to resist and her sights soon moved further ashore across the Atlantic to Canada. It’s here she expanded her beverage alcohol experience, representing a wide array of household names such as Kraken Rum, Three Olives Vodka, and 1800 Tequila. From there, her breadth and depth of spirits knowledge continued as she spearheaded ontrade sales for producers such as Heaven Hill, Cuervo and Sazerac, before finally joining the Flor de Caña family in 2015. This impressive spirits category knowledge provides Karen with a unique breadth of experience that serves as the foundation to her specialism in the Rum category. Today, Karen travels across the US, Canada, and Nicaragua (the home of Flor de Caña) sharing the brand story. She loves nothing more than conducting education sessions that immerse consumers and the trade in the beautiful history of her unique Rum.
